Two and a half days left...

The official count down is on... The Old Zinnia store will be officially closing on Saturday, August 29th at 1pm. We will use the remainder of Saturday, Sunday and Monday to get organized and make the final moves and changes.
The merchandise that has been on sale for the past month has now been marked down even more. For the remainder of the week all of our 'sale' items will be 50% off. Holy guacamole. Think teacher gifts, stocking stuffers holidays treasures and tell a friend.
If you happen to stop by the old Zinnia you will see that we look pretty sad and not much is left. However the exciting news is that New Zinnia is looking pretty cool. I am super excited to be at the new spot. We have new merchandise that will be out on Tuesday on our big reopening. It will definitely be nice to have more space.
I will continue to blog and keep you updated. I feel bad because I haven't really shared about some of the great classes that we had or shared pictures. I have already whined about my technical difficulties. I still do not have my new PC, so getting pictures up and posted has been a challenge. I will catch you up as soon as I get my computer next week.

Old Zinnia new Zinnia update...

I know I have been missing in action. My home computer died. Tamara loaned me hers for today while she is at the new Zinnia building and painting.
So here we are about a week from our official move. If you have been to the store you know it looks sad. We have moved a lot over so old Zinnia is looking sparse. We are having a moving sale and have marked quite a bit 40% off. Mostly gifts. THINK CHRISTMAS!
New Zinnia is looking good. Tamara, Paul and Joey have been working their butts off getting stuff moved, built and painted. I have helped out too. I spent most of Thursday decoupaging the new counter. It's bias to say, but it looks pretty good. Today I am at the store repeating the 'why we are moving' story over and over. It's all good. I like the story.
The next week will be exciting and exhausting. Make sure to check back. I will try to keep you posted. It's crunch time.
Few reminders:
The 350 Show is October 24th. If you haven't already make sure to pick up your panels to have included in the show. The 350 official website has added us to their website... It's very exciting. Check it out at www.350.org; also, the co-founder of 350.org Bill McKibben was on the Colbert Report, there is a link to it on the website.

October 24th, 2009 is "350 Internatonal Day of Climate Action"

At Zinnia, we are going to be participating in a global event called , "350 International Day of Climate" http://www.350.org. Scientists say that 350 parts per million (ppm) Co2 in the atmosphere is the safe limit for humanity. In out world we live at 388.79ppm we need to get below 350ppm. On October 24, 2009 there will be an international event and we need everyone on-board.
At Zinnia, we are planning a fun event. We are going to hang 350 pieces of art on wood panels measuring 350 X 350 picas (almost 5” square). Each piece will sell for 350 pesos (about $26.00), 350 cents of each piece will be donated to support the international movement to solve the climate crisis. The unveiling will take place on Oct 24 at 3:50pm. In hopes to generate awareness and a surprise to the purchaser, we will be advertising the artists that are participating however; the artwork will remain anonymous until after the purchase. The more renowned artists that participate the more buzz we can generate.
Are you interested in participating?
Anyone interested in participating in this event please call us at 626-441-2181 and we will arrange to get you some wood panels. Zinnia will provide each artist with up to six wood panels, upon request and will pay for the shipping cost both ways. Only panels provided by Zinnia will be accepted for this event. Your artwork must be at the store by October 15th. The following formula will use for each piece sold; 350 cents will be contributed to the “350 International Climate Day” cause. The artist will make $14.76 and Zinnia will make/keep $7.96 for event costs.
This is event is open to everyone!
